A reflection by Ann M. Hampton
Are Your Prayers One-Sided?

I want you to think about something. Have you ever spoken to someone on the phone or in person and they talked continuously.
I had a friend and when she called, she could talk straight for about an hour or longer if I let her. I would cook dinner and occasionally say okay, and she would never know if I was there or not. Once in a while, I would hear something interesting and try to get a word in, but she would cut me off and continue to talk.
Now think about Our Heavenly Father and how He feels when you just talk, talk, talk, and ask for what you want without listening or waiting for a response.
Prayer is supposed to be a two-sided conversation between you and God, not a time for you to dump on Him.
After you talk to our Father, sit back, be still, and listen for at least a few moments to what He has to say. You will feel better, and your prayers just might get answered sooner than you think.
