Words of Wisdom

A reflection by Ann M. Hampton

The Accuser

Written by Author: Ann M. Hampton3 min read

We all have made mistakes in our lives that we later regret ever making. Maybe it was cheating, theft, cussing someone out that got on your nerves, neglecting your health and the list can go on and on.

You try to move on, but whatever happened in the past seems to replay repeatedly in your mind causing you to feel depressed and sad.

You start to feel unworthy, neglecting family and friends and missing out on life experiences. You feel depressed and sad and do not know what to do.

Every now and then you might call on King Jesus, but He seems so far away and uncaring.

I am here to tell you that the accuser Satan is using your past mistakes and persistent guilt to separate you from God. According to the bible which is our (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) there is no condemnation, meaning believers are forgiven, justified and free from God’s Judgement. Afterall, Jesus did die on the cross carrying our sins with Him so we could be renewed with the father.

You might be saying to yourself that is fine and good but how do I deal with the situation. I’m glad you asked.

1. Take a moment and meditate on the scriptures below.

2. Change your focus and use your God given power to focus on things above and not below.

3. When a negative thought comes into your head, sing a gospel song. The devil hates this and He will flee.

4. This is the one I used and it really helped me. I call it the little box.

How it works is:

Write down your hurts, past mistakes and anything that is troubling you on a piece of paper. Put the paper in a box. Tell the Lord that you are giving this box to Him. Put it in a closet or someplace out of the way and forget it. Don’t Pick It Up Again.

You have just done what the song says, take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there. What a relief. Forgiven and Forgotten.

Recommended scripture versus.

Romans 8:38-39 (web)

(38) For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, (39) height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1Peter 5:8

Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Psalm 55:22

Cast your burden on Yahweh and He will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.

Matthew 11-28-30

(28) Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. (29) Take up my yoke upon you and learn from me. I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. (30) For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

The bottom line is that despite what you are feeling or going through, God loves and deeply cares about your situation. Have faith and trust His timing.

Spiritual Warfare is Real. Satan wants you to feel worthless. He wants you to fail. Don’t give into Him and His tricks.
