Words of Wisdom

A reflection by Ann M. Hampton

Who is Jesus?

Written by Author: Ann M. Hampton2 min read

As he was praying alone, the disciples were with him, and he asked them, “Who do the multitudes say that I am?”

They answered, “‘John the Baptizer,’ but others say, ‘Elijah,’ and others, that one of the old prophets has risen again.”

He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”

Luke 9:18-20 (web)

Have you ever asked yourself that question? What answer did you come up with?

Some of you might say He is God’s son, The Messiah, or simply a good man.

I like to personally say that He is My Lord and Savior because He died on the cross for you and me. But more importantly than that, as the songwriter wrote for me, He is my 1 st , My Last, My Everything.

Let me Explain:

My First:

For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.

Colossians 1:16 (web)

There is only one God in 3 Divine Person’s. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit who existed before creation and was there during creation according to Genesis.

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, [ a ] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

Genesis 1:26 (web)

God said let us make mankind in our image. The Trinity, Father, son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus is the first person I go to when I wake up in the morning.

My Last:

When I lay my head down for the night, Jesus is the last one I communicate with. When I pray to Him and express my concern, I fall asleep. I feel great when He wakes me and my family up and allows us to see another day and have another opportunity to serve Him and do His will.

My Everything:

Without Jesus we are nothing. I am constantly working to have a strong relationship with Jesus. We cannot exist without Him.

What about you? Is Jesus your 1 st , Your Last, and Your Everything!!
